Garry Rogers Motorsport star Cameron took the historic inaugural victory in Mustang Cup Australia in spectacular fashion, coming home just 0.0066s ahead of teammate Golding.

GRM locked out the top three positions on the grid, with Cameron and Golding sharing the front row ahead of James Moffat.

Cameron worked his way out to an almost three second lead in the early laps as Moffat and Golding battled behind.

The race began in treacherous wet conditions, but the lack of rain meant the track continued to dry as the laps ticked over.

Triple Eight co-driver Jack Perkins was running in the top five on the opening lap before a recurring gearbox issue forced the #888 into the pits.

Golding had reeled Cameron back in with just over 10 minutes remaining, and the pair continued to battle until the two swapped positions in the dying laps.

The GRM trio at the front continued to build a bigger margin over the rest of the field, with the Blanchard Racing Team Supercars pair at the front pulling further away from Moffat.

The 40 minute race culminated in a photo finish, as Cameron managed to get alongside Golding through the final corner, just edging past at the line.

Moffat took the final step of the podium, ahead of Cameron McLeod in fourth and Joe Fawcett rounding out the top five.

Keith Kassulke took the victory in the Dark Horse Legends class coming home in 12th position outright.

Mustang Cup Australia returns on Sunday for a second qualifying session at 9:10am AEDT ahead of a final 40-minute race at 12:30pm.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge

Jones Motorsport’s Hunter Robb led the opening Porsche Sprint Challenge race from start to finish, holding off several battles to take his maiden victory.

Lincoln Taylor began to catch Robb in the opening laps, before front splitter damage slowed the second place car.

Malaysian rookie Hayden Haikal attempted to pass Taylor around the outside of Turn 1 and spun off, beaching the JMR-backed Porsche in the gravel and drawing the safety car.

Formula Ford champion Kobi Williams attempted to pass Robb in the same spot on the restart, but ran wide and fell to fourth.

Rookie Ruairi Avern found the grass on the entry to Turn 4 and just missed being collected by the pack.

Kamal Mrad worked his way past the battling Taylor in the closing laps to take second position, while Taylor hung on to the final podium spot.

Anthony Gilbertson came home in position eight to take the Pro-Am class win in his first competitive race for seven years.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge returns on Sunday for the first of two more races at 10:20am AEDT.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia

Kiwi Rick Armstrong dominated proceedings in the opening Ferrari Challenge race of the weekend.

Armstrong took the lead from Austrian Ernst Kirchmayr at the race start and built a large margin in the opening laps.

Kirchmayr fought to hold onto second position ahead of reigning champion Antoine Gittany, Enzo Cheng, and Jim Pollicina.

Gittany worked his way into second place, while Pollicina spun at Siberia trying to stay off Cheng as the battle continued.

Armstrong had built an almost 10 second lead, which Gittany brought down to less than seven seconds as the rain began to fall on the final lap.

Gittany came home in second position with Kirchmayr rounding out the podium.

Ferrari Challenge Australasia returns on Sunday for a second qualifying session at 9:40am AEDT ahead of Race 2 at 3:10pm.
